UPDATE 8:00 PM

The Atlanta Falcons have a big hole at defensive end after they cut John Abraham earlier this offseason. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports they are now are making a “strong push” to sign Osi Umenyiora by the end of the weekend. Umenyiora has already taken a physical with them, and now it’s just a matter of hammering out a contract.

The Miami Dolphins are currently hosting free agent defensive tackle Dwan Edwards.

Free agent linebacker Nick Barnett is on the Chicago Bears’ radar after they were unable to re-sign Brian Urlacher. They’ve already shored-up their LB depth by signing D.J. Williams to a one-year deal.

Free agent guard Brandon Moore left his Miami Dolphins visit without a contract, and will now visit the Detroit Lion and Dallas Dallas Cowboys.

Ed Reed and the Houston Texans signed a three-year contract with a maximum value of $15 million. His career with the Baltimore Ravens is over, and after help lead them to the Super Bowl this past season, he’ll look to do the same with a young & talented Texans squad that’s been to the divisional round othe playoffs in back-to-back postseasons.

A look-back at Reed’s career, courtesy of ESPN, shows just how much of an impact he’s had in his 12-year NFL career:

"7 — Consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl, including 2012.9 — Interceptions in the playoffs, which is the most among active players.12 — Games with multiple interceptions, which is the most among players who began their career in the Super Bowl era (since 1966).14 — Career touchdowns for Reed, who is the only player in NFL history to score touchdowns off a punt return, blocked punt, interception and fumble recovery.24 — Interceptions in the fourth quarter, which is the most in the NFL since 2002.25.3 — Average yards on interception returns.61 — Interceptions in the regular season, which is the most among active players. Charles Woodson has 55 picks."

The interest between the New Orleans Saints and free agent linebacker Victor Butler is classified as “high.” The Saints are also stil heavily considering free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.

Recently released cornerback Antoine Winfield would like to re-sign with the Minnesota Vikings, even though it would be for a reduced role.

Free agent offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie says that the Saints have shown interest in him.
