ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported yesterday that Carson Palmer is highly unlikely to restructure his contract, meaning his time as an Oakland Raiders stint is all but over. This bears watching, as the Raiders will be forced to draft a QB high if they release Palmer, and holding the #4 pick means they could draft West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith, whom Schefter believes they’l likely consider

The Arizona Cardinals will conduct a private workout with N.C. State quarterback Mike Glennon today, but Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic expects the Cardinals to have interest if Palmer hits free agency, and signing him would likely take them out of the QB market in the early rounds of this year’s draft. So if Palmer is cut, expect the Raiders to draft a QB early, but if they keep him, the Cards will likely take one in the first two rounds.
