The Bengals didn’t have to go far to watch the workout of University of Cincinnati tight end Travis Kelce, and Marvin Lewis spent Thursday watching the former Bearcat workout at Nippert Stadium.
For his career, Kelce caught 59 passes for 875 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’ll likely go somewhere between rounds 2-4, and the Bengals may really consider him if he falls to the third-round. That all depends on how confident they are in last year’s fourth-round pick, TE Orson Charles, and whether he can be a legitimate #2 TE alongside Jermaine Gresham.
Evan Silva of RotoWorld thinks Kelce compares favorably to a player the Bengals are very familiar with in Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heath Miller:
On field, #Cincinnati TE Travis Kelce = Heath Miller. Efficient, physical, at times vicious in-line blocker. Underneath/possession receiver.
