Pick 6a, 190th overall: Landry Jones, Quarterback, Oklahoma.

This is the best time to pick a qb in this draft for Cincinnati. The Bengals do want some quarterback competition and bringing two other quarterbacks into camp plus Jones, behind Dalton, will create the competition necessary for that backup spot. Jones can be a hit or miss with this pick, and the reward should be much higher than the risk.

Pick 6b, 197th overall: Travis Howard, Cornerback, Ohio State.

Howard is the best player available at this stage in the draft and really could go higher. As a corner, he offers good backup potential and could give some of the veteran corners on this team a breather here in there as needed. A physical player like Howard will fit nicely and sparingly in a Zimmer style defense.

Pick 7a 240th overall: Kyle Juszcyk, Fullback, Harvard.

Juszcyk was used as a Tight End at Harvard, but at 6″ and 248 lbs he is built more like an NFL fullback. What works in the Ivy League may not translate, but having a solid player behind Chris Pressley is the goal. Pressley’s season was cut short last year and it had the Bengals scrambling for his replacement. Juszcyk would be a nice addition to the practice squad and possibly get called up to the 53 man roster if and when he’s needed.

Pick 7b 251st overall: Brett Maher, Kicker, Nebraska.

This pick is kind of the Mr. Irrelevant pick for the Bengals, and Maher is a guy who could be kept around just as an insurance policy in case Nugent is injured. Look for this pick, whomever it is, to really be doing well to make the practice squad.

These picks are obviously subject to change due to player availability and what the Bengals actually decide to do. This draft will fill the holes this team has very well, and look for the Bengals to come out ahead once again in another successful draft year.
