AFC North: Ravens get Potential Replacement for Matt Birk. Jimmy Haslam's Troubles

The Baltimore Ravens have acquired center A.Q. Shipley from the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2014 conditional draft pick. After Matt Birk, the anchor of the Ravens offensive line for the past four seasons, decided to retire, the team was left with 2012 fourth-rounder Gino Gradkowski as their starting center. In 476 snaps with the Colts last year A.Q. Shipley earned a +6.9 grade, and will be expected to battle Gradkowski throughout training camp for the starting center spot.

CBS Sports’ Mike Freeman reports several NFL team officials believe it may be  difficult for new Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam to keep the team in the midst of the federal probe into his truck-stop company Pilot Flying J, and because of several civil lawsuits he’s facing in addition to potential federal charges. This looks bound to end ugly for the Browns, who were hoping to have finally found a competent owner dedicated to winning. Alas, the factory of sadness appears to be running at full strength in Cleveland.

Former Cleveland Brown and current free agent KR/WR Josh Cribbs visited the New York Jets on Wednesday and left without a contract. He will now visit the New York Giants.
