While the Cincinnati Bengals continue to hold their rookie minicamp this weekend, most of the focus will be on the players who were selected in last month’s NFL Draft. But there a few undrafted free agents who you’ll be hearing about now and throughout training camp, and the most notable of which may be Southern Illinois linebacker Jayson DiManche.
The former Salukie has been a pass-rushing force in the Missouri Valley Football Conference as he finished fourth in school history with 38 career tackles for loss and seventh with 16.5 sacks. Despite an outstanding senior season in which he registered 49 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks, DiManche went undrafted, but was quickly scooped up by the Bengals, who just last year had two linebackers go from undrafted to making the 53-man roster in Vontaze Burfict and Emmanuel Lamur. If you’ve seen DiManche’s highlight reel, it’s not hard to envision him being on someone’s 53-man roster at some point this year.
DiManche recently joined Chris Shanafelt on SportsManRadio for an interview on his football career thus far and to tell us what we can expect from him in the NFL:
