The New England Patriots have made a surprising move by releasing Brandon Deaderick, a key reserve/rotational defensive lineman.
Deaderick was originally drafted by the Patriots in the seventh round (247th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Alabama. In 2011, Deaderick played 10 games with 17 tackles and 2 sacks. In 2012, Deaderick played 14 games with 18 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 forced fumbles.
Chicago Bears offensive tackle Gabe Carimi was made teams’ first-round selection in 2011, but he already may be on his way out of Chicago with new head coach Mark Trestman now at the helm. The Chicago Tribune believes Carimi is on the Bears’ roster bubble entering training camp, and will need to re-prove himself to the new coaching staff.
Free agent receiver/kick-returner Josh Cribbs plans to sign with a team in a couple days, and is thought o be deciding between the Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders, New York Giants, and the New York Jets.
