Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw is being counted on to take on a heavier load this year after nearly the entire linebacking core left via free agency or retirement. Upshaw didn’t play as much as he’d hoped for in his rookie season, but did finish with 60 combinations tackles, 1.5 sacks and added a key forced fumble in the Ravens 34-31 Super Bowl XLVII victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
He’s not exactly inspiring confidence right now with his absences from OTAs due to “personal” reasons”, and now is admitting that he’s currently weighing in at 285 lbs and attempting to work his way back into shape.
Upshaw was selected by the Ravens with their first overall pick in the second round (35th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.
The attorney for Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam continues to insist Haslam had no knowledge of fraud at his family-run truck stop business, and that the truth will come at soon enough and Haslam will be found innocent of any wrongdoings.
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Steelers have had at least one five-year veteran starting on the offensive line every season since 1960. As of now, the average age of the line is just over 24 years old, which would make it the Steelers’ youngest since 1957.
