ESPN Chicago and NFL insider Adam Schefter are reporting that the Chicago Bears will work out free agent QB JaMarcus Russell this Friday. New Bears Head Coach Marc Trestman is intrigued by Russell, despite his epic fall from grace after going from #1-overall pick to being out of the NFL since 2009, and won just seven of 25 starts during his career with the Oakland Raiders.
Russell hashas shed a reported 50 pound and now weighs around 265 pounds after one time being well over the 315 threshold. We previously floated the idea of the Cincinnati Bengals signing Russell, so they may wind up seeing Russell after all when the two clubs square off in Week 1.
That can be viewed as good or bad news, but this is certainly on the negative side, as the NFL suspended Bears TE Gabe Miller four games for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell believes the Jacksonville Jaguars may start playing two games per year in London in the near future, and that the league hopes to begin playing three annual games overseas.
And in case you missed it, the NFL announced a multi-year extension with Verizon Wireless, and it will further expand your ability to watch NFL games, anytime and anywhere.
