As far as kicker and punter goes, assuming punter Kevin Huber and kicker Mike Nugent are healthy, they’ll handle those duties. The Bengals kept Huber and long snapper Clark Harris from becoming free agents, and opted to go with Mike Nugent over Josh Brown at kicker. Brown finished the year as the team’s primary kicker, but Nugent has a more powerful leg and due to his calf injury suffered late in the season, the Bengals were able to get him on a cheaper deal than Brown.
Last season, Huber set Bengals records for gross punting average (46.6) and net punting average (42.0). He also placed 33 punts inside the 20-yard line, which was fifth-most in the league.
Nugent did have an 82.6 percent conversion rate when healthy, and he was perfect inside 40 yards.
