In a statement from the Cincinnati Bengals’ Public Relations department, S Robert Sands was released today.
The statement read:
“The Bengals today waived S Robert Sands, a third-year player from West Virginia. Sands played in one game as a rookie in 2011 and missed all of last season with a chest muscle injury.”
Sands was selected by Cincinnati in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft after Sands announced he would forego his senior year at the University of West Virginia to enter the NFL.
He played DB at WVU, but was picked with the intention of playing safety for the Bengals.
He was the 134th overall pick that year. His lone game in the NFL was on December 4, 2011, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He didn’t record any stats.
Less than a year later on August 24, 2012, he was placed on the injured reserve list for a chest injury.
