Players from around the NFL believe that Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson has “lost a half-step” and “isn’t as explosive” as he once was, and the team is preparing to take less off of his plate going forward:

Johnson had only four touchdown catches last season, his fewest since 2002 in a season in which he played at least nine games. So while the bigger emphasis has been on Hopkins, who should provide Houston and quarterback Matt Schaub a quality No. 2 starter, the club has privately allowed there is a need to start developing one of the other young wide receivers as well. Second-year veteran DeVier Posey had some flashes as a rookie in ’12, and fellow youngsters Keshawn Martin and Lestar Jean have promise as well.

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch’s court date on a motion to suppress evidence from his 2012 DUI arrest was continued on Friday to November 1. Lynch was arrested for DUI last July, and the sides will meet again on Thursday for a pre-trial hearing, at which point a trial date could be selected. The delay means Lynch is unlikely to have a trial until after the 2013 NFL season.

Despite being without both Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, ESPN Boston’s Field Yates reports that quarterback Tim Tebow is unlikely to take reps at tight end “or any other position besides quarterback” in training camp with the New England Patriots.

New York Giants linebacker Dan Connor was arrested Saturday for possession of an offensive weapon at the Philadelphia International Airport.

He was 2 yards shy of 1600 yards last season. The Texans run the ball and use their tight ends in the red zone. Andre Johnson will be just fine. Even if he loses half a step he is one of the best receivers in the game.
