The NFL got great news Monday when Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III announced he has been medically cleared for the start of training camp. That doesn’t mean however the Skins are ready to let RG3 fully return to practice and participate in the preseason. ESPN is reporting that the Skins plan to hold RGIII out of every preseason game, meaning we likely won’t see
Griffin is only six months removed from reconstructive knee surgery after suffering a torn ACL in the Skins’ playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks. For now, he’s but managed to avoid opening camp on the PUP, and appears likely to be ready for the opening game. Dr. James Andrews, who performed Griffin’s ACL and LCL repair, has given Griffin clearance.
The Redskins open the NFL regular season against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football on September 9th.
