The Cincinnati Bengals will likely be without All-Pro receiver A.J. Green for the upcoming week after he injured his knee during the first practice of Bengals training camp. The team was thankful to learn it was just a bone bruise, and while that is considered a minor injury in the NFL, the coaches and trainers don’t want to put their best player in an unnecessary situation in which he could re-injure it, or further damage it.
Initially, Green sounded upbeat and ready to get right back to the field, but he wasn’t as optimistic Sunday. According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, Green doesn’t know when he’ll be back, nor does he know when he will test his knee to determine a return date.
The latest from Geoff Hobson suggests there’s a good chance he won’t suit up on August 8th for the monday Night Football Preseason Opener vs. the Atlanta Falcons:
Hearing #Bengals going slow on A.J. Green. Don’t expect to see him this week. May not play Aug. 8 preseason opener as they opt for caution
