With Pro bowl tight end Heath Miller set to open the 2013 NFL season on the PUP list, the Pittsburgh Steelers have desperately been trying to find a replacement for him, but have only come up with more injured TEs thus far.
According to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, they’ll be without Matt Spaeth for eight to 10 weeks due to a foot injury. Spaeth was carted off the field Wednesday and diagnosed with a Lisfranc sprain, which is a dislocation of a bone in the middle of the foot.
TE/FB David Johnson is also on PUP with a knee injury.
The only remaining TEs Pittsburgh has now are Jamie McCoy, Peter Tuitupou and John Rabe. McCoy played in one NFL game last year with Steelers. Tuitupou is an undrafted rookie out of San Jose State. Rabe is an undrafted rookie from Minnesota.
