Tyrone Goard, a 6′ 4″ 205 lb receiver from Eastern Kentucky, hasn’t been able to crack a loaded WR rotation, and this is probably a good move for him. Goard’s size and speed stoked a lot of interest after a college career where he proved capable of catching the long ball including an appearance ESPN’s Play of the Day.
Goard caught an Ohio Valley Conference-high 11 touchdowns on just 39 receptions (16.1) in 2011 and was named second-team All-OVC.
This past season, Goard finished with 41 catches for 900 yards and finished his career in the top-10 in school history in total receptions, receiving yards. and touchdowns.
Troy Stoudemire, a 5-10, 195 lb defensive back out of Minnesota, holds the NCAA career kick return yardage record with 3,615. He actually switched between receiver and cornerback his first three seasons before moving primarily to defense this past season, so not having a defined position really hurt his stock.
In 2012, Sotudemire started all 12 games for the Gophers, and was used more exclusively on defense, leading the team in tackles (82) and solo tackles (59) while notching 513 yards on 22 kickoff returns (23.3 avg).
