Bengals Escape Second Preseason Game without Major Injury

Before the game even kicked-off, running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis was a late scratch, but it wasn’t due to injury. In stead, it was Marvin Lewis knowing what he had in the veteran Ellis, while wanting to get a better feel for Bernard and how he handled a feature role:

Was it just a night off for Benny (BenJarvus Green-Ellis)?
“Yeah, just resting him. There is not anything he has to prove to me about what he can do. It gives some of the other guys an opportunity.”

All the backs played and had a good night:
“They all have good ability, and we’re blessed with that.”


It was also a good opportunity to see more of second-year man Daniel “Boom” Herron, as well as rookie Rex Burkhead and special teams ace Cedric Peerman:
