Stripe Hype had the privilege to interview Jordan Campbell and ask him a few questions prior to the start of training camp. Here is how the interview went:
SH: How was your first NFL experiences been during the Bengals rookie minicamp and OTAs?
Campbell: I just started working out for different teams and training for the draft. About 12 teams had me in for a workout. Getting to play in All-Star games helped me get my name out there. Teams were wanting to try me out at both outside and inside linebacker.
When the draft came, I thought I would get picked. I though I was going to the Buffalo Bills when they called me and talked about potentially taking me in the sixth-round.
They ended up taking someone else, but they still called me afterwards and said they really wanted my after I went undrafted. The Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs and Bengals also called about me joining them.
SH: What separated the Bengals from all of those teams?
Campbell: My former linebackers coach was a friend of Marvin Lewis, and he said I should go to Cincinnati and play for Lewis. So I called Rey Maualuga and some of the guys I knew, and I talked to them about Coach Lewis, and I ended up going to the Bengals.
