Howard started played every snap of the Week 1 loss at Baltimore, but later suffered the season-ending injury in the teams’ next practice. He became an unrestricted free agent, but said he believed there was a good chance he’d return after leading the team in tackles with 120 in 2011. The Bengals should make every attempt to sign him and provide the team with, at-worst, some good veteran depth.

But the word going around is Howard never fully healed from the injury, and that’s why he has yet to be signed. Cincinnati should at least bring him in for a workout, and sign him sometime in the coming week in hopes of having him prepared for a Week 2 Monday Night Football showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
