When looking at the Bengals current depth chart at linebacker, it’s not exactly one you want going into a Week 1 showdown against Matt Forte and the Chicago Bears:

SLB James Harrison Emmanuel Lamur
WLB Vontaze Burfict Jayson DiManche Bruce Taylor
MLB Rey Maualuga Vincent Rey J.K. Schaffer

Five linebackers is unheard of, not to mention two of them will primarily be used on special teams (Rey and DiManche) but perhaps defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer is planning on using the nickle defense even more this year after utilizing it 53 percent of the time in 2012.

Still, I find it hard to believe even he would want to have that thin of a LB corp in the first-half of the season with games against the Bears (Forte), Browns (Trent Richardson), Patriots (Shane Vereen & Stevan Ridley), Bills (Fred Jackson & C.J. Spiller), and Lions (Reggie Bush).
