What Extension of Geno Atkins Means for Michael Johnson and rest of Bengals D-Line

As most of us know, the Bengals extended defensive tackle Geno Atkins‘ contract. The deal is a 5-year/$55 deal, which means he will be here for a while.

Now that that is out of the way, I say the Bengals worry about defensive end Michael Johnson. He is quickly becoming a star in the league, and could shape up to be one of the best DEs in the league. With the signing of Atkins, the signing of Michael should be a lot easier.

And because the Bengals front-loaded so much of Atkins’ and Dunlap’s salaries, it does make it possible to re-sign Johnson if it’s more of a back-loaded deal.

Right now, the Bengals have one of the most dominant defensive lines in the game today, with great pass rushers like Atkins, Johnson, and Carlos Dunlap.

The rotation is exceptional too. You have Robert Geathers and Wallace Gilberry out there helping, adding depth to this line. The signing of Geno pretty much insures that this line can stay intact, because I believe that the Bengals will extend Michael Johnson. They did Carlos Dunlap. Why not Johnson?

We don’t need any pieces of this d-line gone, and If we do keep it, this team will be a contender for years to come.
