The Pittsburgh Steelers lost a devastating home game to the lowly Tennessee Titans today, but more than just a game was lost at Heinz Field.

Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey and longtime inside linebacker Larry Foote both suffered injuries Sunday that will require season-ending surgery.

Pouncey suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee during the Steelers’ opening possession of the game while Foote sustained a ruptured biceps later in the 16-9 loss to the Titans. Pouncey was blocking on a run play when teammate and right guard David DeCastro dove directly into his lower leg.

Pouncey is arguably the top center in the NFL, and has been a fixture at the position where the Steelers have produced such greats as Mike Webster and Dermontti Dawson.

The Steelers will now hit the road looking to avoid an 0-2 start, as they’ll take on the Bengals in a Monday Night Football showdown that will have a playoff-feel to it.
