Head coach Marvin Lewis once again said today Whitworth would return soon, and that it could be this week vs the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Until he at least suits-up for a full-practice, don’t see them to rush Whit back if Collins continues to play at a high level. Remember, he’s a free agent this offseason, and with Whit’s age and knees, they make bringing him back a top-priority to be the starter of the future.

Against the Bengals yesterday, All-Pro Julius Peppers did not show up on the stat sheet while being blocked by Collins. He did not force a fumble, sack the quarterback or record a tackle (even an assisted one). The Bengals ultimately lost, 24-21, but Collins won his battle, and showed he’s a quality lineman that deserves to start, or at least play significant snaps.
