Marvin Lewis has coached the Cincinnati Bengals since the 2003 season. In that time, he and the Bengals have experienced both sides of the spectrum, as have the players and fans. He’s gotten a lot of bad remarks thrown his way over the years, whether it be bad challenges, play calls, or just fans cracking on his inability to win games at low points in the last decade.

However, the once heavily-criticized head coach of the Bengals has now arisen as a large factor in the success of the newly improved age of Cincinnati football.

And although he hasn’t held a positive regular season record since early in the 2008 season with the Bengals, that’s likely about to change. Following last week’s historic comeback win over the Green Bay Packers, Lewis has a career 81-81-1 record in the Queen City.

What better way to do it than against Cleveland? The Bengals will have the opportunity to not only improve upon their 14-6 mark against them under Lewis, but give their head coach his chance to finally break positive in his record.

Now, I’m sure if you asked the coach what that meant to him, he’d probably say that the only record that matters is the record this year. That would be the right answer.

Still, it’s another nice milestone for the head coach as he leads a revamped Bengals team into the first round of the Battle of Ohio.
