After Brandon Tate returned the kickoff to the Bengal 27, a quick three and out forced a Cincinnati punt.

The Patriots would take over with 14:24 to go in the 3rd quarter. A couple short passes to Thompkins and Bolden got New England into Bengal territory with a first down. After two incomplete passes, a Burfict sack ended the Patriot drive and they were forced to punt, pinning the Bengals around their own 9-yard line.

On 3rd and 5 at the Bengal 14-yard line, Dalton scrambled to pick up the first down. Then the offense started to click with a first-down pass to AJ Green, followed by runs from Bernard and Green-Ellis to pick up another first.

Two more first down completions to Eifert and Sanu got the Bengals all the way to the New England 25-yard line.

Coming back from a timeout, Dalton would take a sack for a huge loss leaving the Bengals with a 2nd and 18. A short pickup by Bernard set up a 3rd and 16 play for Cincinnati. Dalton’s next pass was to the end zone and was caught by a New England defender but was ruled out-of-bounds.

Nugent came out to the field for a 50-yard field goal that was good.

This gave the Bengals a 6-3 lead with 5:43 to go in the third quarter.
