Spiller and Jackson will be part of a run-heavy game plan vs the Bengals, and we may even see some read-option plays with Thaddeus Lewis at QB.
Last week in a loss to the Cleveland Browns, Spiller played just 13 snaps and got eight touches, but one of them was for a 54-yard TD run. Jackson played 50 snaps and 21 touches, and has shown he’s fully capable carrying the load while playing at a high level:
“If we can get the running game started early it’ll take a lot of pressure off of him. Take a lot of pressure off our receivers and make their job easy,” Jackson said. ”That’s what we want to get done. That’s what myself, C.J. (Spiller), the offensive line, what we’re going to pride ourselves on is going out and being able to get this running game going early and taking a lot of pressure off of those guys.”
“They’re going to do everything they can to get us out of the running game and make him beat them. I know that’s the challenge he’s looking forward to. It’s a challenge we’re looking forward to.”
