The Bengals defense shouldn’t have much trouble containing Thad Lewis, the Bills practice squad quarterback, because the offensive gameplan should be one that sets him up for success and keeps the game manageable. C.J. Spiller is going to give the Bengals everything they can handle as the Bills running back will try to rumble and stumble his way to a hundred yard game.
They’ve got two really good backs with (C.J.) Spiller and (Fred) Jackson, with quickness and the ability to get the football outside, so we’ve got to be really conscious about leverage throughout the day on defense, Head coach Marvin Lewis said of the Bills. “Their receiver core is very quick, with Stevie Johnson from down the road at UK, who’s been really productive as an inside player. We have to be conscious of him and (Robert) Woods and some of the other guys to go along with him.
With Thad Lewis starting though, the Bengals defensive record of 18 straight games without a 300 yard passer should remain intact.
Overall, with Leon Hall looking like he is coming back on defense and the banged up Buffalo Bills, the Bengals should roll to victory. This game probably won’t be a shutout, but don’t be surprised if the Bills don’t make it to the Bengals 20 yard line. I believe this is just the coming out party that Andy Dalton needs to show they are a perennial contender in the AFC.
Final prediction: Bengals 27 Bills 6.
