Still, it was nice to see Lewis defend his quarterback, and he took it a step further when describing the team’s expectations of what Dalton could become:

”We’re asking for Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers right now, today.”

High praise, but high expectations nonetheless. For a team that clearly looks ready to win in the postseason, Lewis knows, at least this year, Dalton will be the one who leads this team to it’s first playoff win in two decades if this is the year it happens.

Why is Lewis praising Dalton now? It is evident Gruden does not trust him to throw deep in his own territory. 3 runs and a punt. Your not going to run the clock that way. He throws for over 300 yards, yet only 2 were over 15 yards. It’s the yards after the catch that padded his stats. A guy throws a 1 yard pass and the receiver runs 99 yards for a TD and he is credited for a TD pass. States should be changed. A TD pass is a completed pass in the end zone.
