If there was one glaring issue to come out of Sunday’s overtime win over the Buffalo Bills, it was the Bengals’ concerning amount of penalties. Cincinnati was flagged eight times against, costing them 78 yards. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict was flagged for three personal fouls for 15-yard s apiece.

All three were on separate drives with two of them helping the Bills score 10 points. The other drive in which Burfict committed a foul, the Bengals had to stop the Bills on fourth-and-goal to prevent another score, so Burfict’s fouls alone could have resulted in anywhere between 13-21 points to a better offense.

“I’m pretty sure (the NFL) is going to review it, but I didn’t think it was a flag,” said Burfict after the game about the three penalties. “The quarterback dove, I had left my feet already and he dove at my legs. They said I led with my helmet, the other was a facemask, my facemask had been pulled. I just reached my arm out and got his facemask. The helmet to helmet one I thought I had the ball in my hands.”
