Veteran cornerback Antoine Winfield signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks in April, only to be one of the final roster cuts prior to the start of the NFL Season. Rather than sign with another team and learn their defensive scheme while getting acclimated to a new team as the season began, Winfield opted to retire.
He may now be ready to end his brief retirement and try to make one more run at a Super Bowl ring.
CBS Sports Jason LaCanfora reported this last week about Winfield:
Several contending teams are in regular contact with free agent cornerback Antoine Winfield, according to league sources.
With the midpoint of the season approaching, a decision is expected sooner rather than later.
Winfield, coming off a strong season with the Vikings, resumed working out a few weeks ago after originally planning to retire.
