Prater, a 2012 fifth-round draft pick out of Iowa, suffered a knee injury during his rookie campaign in the preseason that landed him on season-ending IR. After a good-showing in this year’s training camp, he was one of the final cuts after the Bengals simply had too-many other cornerbacks on their roster.

The Bengals cut him but appeared to try to get him through waivers to their practice squad, but the Philadelphia Eagles swooped in and snatched him away.

His last season of significant football was in 2011 with the Iowa Hawkeyes, where he started all 13 games at cornerback, recording 33 solo tackles and 18 assists. He also recorded four forced fumbles, one interception, three pass break-ups and one QB sack.
