The Bengals still have cornerback Leon Hall on the roster after he tore his Achilles this past Sunday, and according to Joe Reedy, the team will probably keep him there until they decide what to do with his roster spot:
On Friday, coach Marvin Lewis said he didn’t forsee any moves being made. Earlier in the week, the Bengals made waiver claims for two cornerbacks – Shaun Prater and Jordan Poyer – but Minnesota and Cleveland had priority since the order goes according to record.
“We’re in pretty good shape and backed up with depth with the other guys,” Lewis said. “We’ll wait and see. We have a short week coming up and see what we need.”
It makes sense, especially with Andrew Hawkins coming back next week. If they can’t add anyone before Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, they’ll likely place Hall on the injured reserve and his vacant roster spot will be occupied by Hawkins. who the team hopes to have next Thursday vs the Miami Dolphins:
Said Lewis of Hawkins: “He’s done well. He needed to get out with the real guys. With the short week next week it was easier to do it now and start the clock.”
