After a narrow 21-18 loss o the Oakland Raiders, the Steelers now sit in last place in the AFC North Division at 2-5.
Kicker Shaun Suisham took a lot of heat for the loss after he missed two short field goals from 34 and 32 yards. The two kicks were missed before the team went on a rally after trailing 21-3 late, but not having just one of those field goals made the comeback very unlikely, and head coach Mike Tomlin wasn’t happy about that:
“We lost the game by 3,” Tomlin said. “We missed two makeable field goals.”
“It’s a tough one to swallow,” Suisham said. “We would have won the football game if I was better.”
All of the team’s struggles now has quarterback Ben Roethlisberger calling Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots is a “must win“. If the Steelers lose the game and fall to 2-6, their season is likely over in terms of being playoff contenders, and they may seriously consider a roster overhaul that sees many of their best players taking pay cuts or taking a hike this offseason.
