The season is over for Cincinnati Bengals safety Taylor Mays. After suffering a serious shoulder injury on Sunday, the team has just placed him on the season-ending injured reserve list:

The injury happened on the final play of the first half, and he was still getting tended to on the field after players from both teams had jogged into their locker rooms at the half. Mays has played some nickel linebacker this year and would have been an ideal option to play more of that role this week to make-up for Rey Maualuga’s absence at middle linebacker this week as he recovers from a sprained MCL suffered on Sunday.
It’s unclear as to what the team will do to account for his roster spot.
