Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon Suspended Indefinitely

Jaguars star receiver has had some problems with substance abuse in the past and he was just suspended indefinitely for breaking the NFL’s Policy and Substance Abuse Program.  His suspension will begin immediately and there is no timetable as to when he will be able to walk onto the playing field again.  However, it’s fairly clear he won’t be playing for the rest of the season as it has been said he will be eligible to apply for reinstatement prior to the start of the 2014 regular season.

Blackmon has been a catalyst for the offense the Jaguars have generated this year, however small those numbers may appear in comparison.

He has 415 yards on 29 receptions, including 1 touchdown.

Per the Jaguars official website: Jaguars general manager David Caldwell had this to say about the news:

“All of us who are a part of the Jaguars family care very deeply about Justin and his well-being. That said, he must be held accountable and accept the consequences announced today by the NFL. His suspension will provide him the opportunity to receive the attention and professional treatment necessary to overcome his challenges, and we will support him during this time. The Jacksonville Jaguars will evaluate Justin’s status once he has successfully met the criteria to be considered for reinstatement to the league.”
