Aug 24, 2013; Arlington, TX, USA; Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick (27) defends against Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant (88) in the first quarter of the game at AT

Both add an element to this team to help with the slot. While Kirkpatrick had some struggles, one can’t expect him to be an All-Pro right now. He has some learning to do on the field, but so far he has played coverage very well. His snaps have increased and this will help him move forward in the future. Ghee is someone who is often forgotten about, but Marvin Lewis drew some comparisons in Ghee to Jonathan Joseph.

Obviously, we have not seen that translate onto the field, but Ghee was very productive in Wake Forest. The main issue with these two players is not talent, as they both have it. It’s whether or not they can stay healthy and continue to learn quickly with their limited reps.

With defense tackle, the Bengals lost their best one. However, the Bengals have two extremely talented young players to step up, Devon Still and Brandon Thompson. While in Penn State, Still showed great explosiveness and athleticism. While he has not seen much playing time, he has shown flashes. He plays well as a three technique and can also be rotated in. Still was once viewed as a 1st round prospect, but fell due to other defensive tackles having great combines.

An elbow injury has sidelined him for the past two games, but he is expected to return at some point within the next month.
