With a defenses that features a secondary comprised of Terence Newman (age 35), Chris Crocker (33) and Adam Jones (30), all of whom were viewed as lost causes before coming to Cincinnati, Zimmer knows he has to generate a pass rush to keep them from having to stand back in coverage too long before giving up the big play.
His efforts have put the Bengals in position to win each of their last two games, and while both ended in losses due in large part to the offense, no one is pointing fingers:
“We just couldn’t make the plays when we had the ball,” said Chris Crocker. “What can you say? I mean honestly. It ain’t for a lack of trying. We fought our butts off. You win and you lose as a team. There’s no other way to put it.”
It’s frustrating to watch the Bengals lose the way they have recently, but this team still has a multi-game lead in the AFC North and sound ready to keep grinding towards a division crown.
