Reed has vast experience in the AFC North, and it would have behooved the Bengals to at least see what he still has to offer and if he can help a depleted defensive back field that has lost Leon Hall and Taylor Mays in the past month. Following offseason hip surgery, the 35-year-old wasn’t able to play at a high level for the Texans. His best football is clearly behind him, but given his knowledge and ability, he still might have value to the Jets given his history with Ryan when he was the defensive coordinator in Baltimore.
