The Ravens passing game has struggled this year due to the loss of lost wide receiver Anquan Boldin, but the team thought Pitta could fill the void. But after tearing his hip labrum in training camp, he has yet to play this year, but his debut is expected to come this week vs. the defensively challenged Minnesota Vikings.
Pitta is coming off a season in which he set career highs in receptions (61), yards (669) and touchdowns (seven) for the Super Bowl champion Ravens. The fourth-year pro finished the 2012 NFL postseason with 14 catches for 163 yards and three touchdowns in four victories.
The Ravens have managed to stay alive in the postseason race at 6-6, and they’ll look to incorporate Pitta back into the offense as soon s he plays in a game, and don’t be surprised if he puts up good numbers this week.
Even if you don’t need to play him now, add him before someone else does and you’re having to face him when he’s hitting his stride later on in the playoffs.
