The Cincinnati Bengals have officially secured an extension to sellout the remaining playoff tickets for Sunday’s home playoff game vs. the San Diego Chargers. The team had around 7,00 tickets left to sell this morning and have manged to get the number down enough that the NFL will give them an addition day to sell the remaining tickets to prevent Sunday’s game from being blacked out in local markets.
Here is the release from Bengals Media Relations:
The Bengals today announced that strong ticket sales have occurred today for the Bengals-Chargers AFC Wild Card playoff, presented by Fifth Third Bank, to be played this Sunday January 5th at 1 pm. Based on sales – plus support from local businesses including Fifth Third Bank, Cincinnati Insurance Company, Cintas, United Dairy Farmers, Liberty Mutual/Safeco, WCPO/Scripps and Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse who have helped provide tickets to military families through the Armed Forces Ticket Association (AFTA) – the Bengals have secured an extension from the NFL for the sellout deadline for local television coverage. The deadline has been extended until Friday at 4 p.m.
If the game sells out, it will be televised in the Bengals home market on CBS network affiliates WKRC-TV (Channel 12) in Cincinnati, WHIO-TV (Channel 7) in Dayton and WKYT-TV (Channel 27) in Lexington, Ky.
