The Cincinnati Bengals should be worried about losing both of their primary coordinators, as defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer has several teams ready to interview him, while offensive coordinator Jay Gruden also has four teams he’ll interview with this week.
But another assistant coach the Bengals could easily lose is running backs coach Hue Jackson. Regarded as a great offensive mind, the former Oakland Raiders Head Coach is very likely to be an offensive coordinator somewhere next year, and if Gruden remains in that role with the Bengals, Hue will likely be leaving Cincinnati as well.
One spot he could land in is Miami after the Dolphins fired Mike Sherman today, according to MiamiDolphins.com:
Head Coach Joe Philbin has announced that offensive coordinator Mike Sherman has been relieved of his duties. Sherman served as Miami’s offensive coordinator for the past two seasons.
“I would like to thank Mike for his contributions to the Miami Dolphins,” Philbin said. “Mike has been a mentor to me throughout my coaching career, dating back to 1979. He is a man of great integrity, dedicated to his family, his team, his players and his profession. On behalf of the entire Miami Dolphins organization I want to wish Mike and his family the very best in the future.”
Hopefully if Jay leaves, Hue Jackson is named the new offensive coordinator of the Bengals.
