Cincinnati Bengals Promote Paul Guenther to Replace Mike Zimmer

The Cincinnati Bengals won’t have to worry about Paul Guenther leaving with Mike Zimmer, as the team is promoting him to defensive coordinator today:




Guenther has been working with the Bengals for nine years now in assisting the defensive backs and linebackers, and currently holds the title of linebackers coach. 

He has done great job scouting and bringing in overlooked prospects and developing them into capable NFL starters. He was responsible for scouting Emmanuel Lamur and Jayson DiManche, a pair of undrafted free agents who figure to get extensive playing time next year.

Guenther is also credited with the development of Pro Bowl linebacker Vontaze Burfict, and was already a favorite among the players to become the new DC:
