NFL Draft Underclassmen Tracker: Record 96 Players Declare

The NFL Draft is the No. 1 thing on the minds of many teams now that their season is over. With the All-Star college football games set to kick-off this week, many scouts and front office personnel will watching as many of the nation’s top college football talent takes to the field one final time.

But those will be mostly seniors, and many of the top prospects are underclassmen =who had until January 15 to decide if they will go pro or stay in school for at least one more season.

A record 96 underclassmen declared, and unfortunately for some of them, that means there will be some talented players in the later rounds of the drafts, as well as among those who are undrafted.

Last year, 73 underclassmen chose to leave school early, yet only 52 were drafted. That means nearly 30 percent of the early entrants went undrafted, and it figures to be around that number this year.
