2. The Jail Bird Years

No one wants to re-visit these years of Chris Henry and company, but they did happen. And so I don’t get people saying that this was more Marvin Lewis’s fault than Brown’s, shame on you.

Brown had the opportunity to get rid of Lewis several occasions. This leads me to my next point.

3. Marvin Lewis is still a coach

Don’t get me wrong. What Marvin Lewis did for this team in the early 2000′ was beyond restoring for this franchise; however, at some point mediocrity does not pay the bills anymore. Lewis is 0-5 in the playoffs.

Lewis had no control over one of the best receiver-quarterback tandems in Bengals history (Chad Johnson and Carson Palmer). He has had multiple arrests of his players, and has never seemed to have control of team in the same manner good NFL coaches do.

Marvin is a fill-in coach. He is not a winner. He is not a champion. However, Mike Brown feels the need to re-sign him every year.
