Wide Receiver – Keenan Allen, San Diego Chargers
Allen burst onto the scene in a big way in 2013. The third round pick out of Cal led all rookies with 71 catches for 1,046 yards and eight touchdowns and helped the Charger rebound from a 7-9 campaign to go 9-7 ti year and make it to the divisional round of the NLF playoffs.
He set the Chargers team rookie record for catches and yards, and was the first to post a 1,000-yard season in the NFL since A.J. Green in 2011. He displayed the level of crisp route-running seen in veteran receivers.
Allen’s physicality also resembled that of a hardened veteran, as he powered through defenders and averaged 6 yards after contact, the 12th-most out of 111 eligible receivers according to PFF.
He also forced 13 missed missed tackles (as seen above), the 10th most of any receiver. The future is bright for Allen going forward.
