Justin Gilbert attended Huntsville High School in Texas where he was a three-sport athlete. Coming out of high school, Gilbert was viewed by some colleges as a quarterback but viewed by most as an “athlete.”

Gilbert chose to attend Oklahoma State University, where he would star as a cornerback. After his freshman year, he had his breakout season. Gilbert tallied five interceptions as a sophomore and led many experts to believe he would be declaring for the NFL Draft after his junior season.

That, however, did not happen. Gilbert followed up his stellar sophomore season with 0 interceptions as a Junior. He fell down draft boards, basically ensuring that he would be returning to Stillwater for his Senior Year.

What a decision that turned out to be. He racked up 42 tackles and 7 interception s this past year causing him to soar back up draft boards.
