Bengals Tab Brian Braswell as Assistant Offensive Line Coach

The Cincinnati Bengals today hired Brian Braswell as Assistant Offensive Line/Quality Control coach. Braswell will work closely with Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line Coach Paul Alexander and also handle other game preparation duties.

Braswell has coached since 2005 at Morehouse College, an NCAA Division II school in Atlanta, Ga. For the last six seasons (2008-13), he served as Offensive Line coach and run game coordinator.

He also coached the field goal and extra point teams, and he developed and installed strength programs for athletes at the school.

Braswell has two brief NFL stints on his resume, having done spring/summer work with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010 and the Bengals in 2013 as part of the NFL’s Bill Walsh Minority Internship coaching program.

“Brian is an energetic guy who finds ways to contribute, and we’re happy to add him on for 2014,” said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. “We were very impressed with the work he put in for us in the offseason and training camp last year.”

The 35-year-old Braswell’s hometown is College Park, Ga. He attended Hampton (Va.) University, where he played center and tackle on the football team.

This is a solid pickup for the Bengals and should help one of the best offensive lines in the NFL remain such in 2014.
