Senior Bowl week has come to a close, which officially kicks off the next three months of draft rumors, lies and propaganda. We will think we know more about these guys then our own family by the time the draft gets here in May.
In all reality, I think that scouts and teams know who they’re after by March and the next two months are left to over-evaluate by the media and to spin storylines, but that issue is for another day.
This year’s draft features a record amount of underclassmen and many will see their names called in the first round ahead of the participants in this week’s Senior Bowl. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t some talent to be drafted from the annual college all-star event.
There will be some solid gets this year and while some players may need a year to develop others are plug and play in the can’t wait NFL.
Revisiting my pre-Senior Bowl list for the Bengals, here are five players that continue to be on my list for players who fit the Bengals.
Nebraska CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste
The former Husker is a good example of how a player can help his stock at the Senior Bowl. Word is that most scouts agree that while he isn’t a finished product, he can be a solid player and could even be the first CB taken.
Baptiste isn’t without some negatives as some feel his footwork is bad and will lead to him not being successful at CB in the NFL. My thought is, if he the Bengals can teach Dre Kirkpatrick to backpedal for the first time Baptiste would be good to go after training camp.
