Ravens Hiring former Texans HC Gary Kubiak as New OC

The Baltimore Ravens have found their new offensive coordinator after they watched Jim Caldwell become the next head coach of the Detroit Lions.

They’ve been carefully gauging all of their options and were set to make a hire last week, presumably between the likes of Kyle Shanahan, Kirby Wilson, Scott Linehan and internal candidate Jim Hostler.

But after Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak emerged late last week as a potential candidate, it was only a matter of time before the team hired him, and according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, they’re hiring him along with former Texans offensive coordinator Rick Dennison:

Kubiak was fired this year during a season in which the Texans finished 2-14. Kubiak had been with the club for eight seasons and is regarded as one of the better offensive-minded coaches in the NFL.

Overall, he’s been in six Super Bowls, three as a player and three as an assistant coach. He has been part of three Super Bowl-winning teams, one with the 49ers and two with the Broncos.

If the Ravens were to hire him, it would be a huge win for quarterback Joe Flacco, who regressed in 2013 on his way to throwing 22 interceptions and only 19 touchdowns.
