Pipe Dream Free Agents for Cincinnati Bengals

With the possibility of several key players leaving Cincinnati this year, it is time to look at the possible choices to fill their spots in free agency.

This year’s free agent market has a lot of talent. Many players could see the franchise tag, but those that don’t are free game to sign.

That being said, the Bengals rarely dish-out big contracts in free agency, especially to players outside of the organization.

Could that change this year? Maybe, but still, these three players look like pipe dreams who any Bengals fan would be happy to have.

Saints Offensive Tackle Zach Strief

If the Bengals lose Anthony Collins to free agency, Zach Streif could be a viable option if he makes it to free agency. Born and raised near Cincinnati, Ohio, it could be a good home coming for the Milford, Ohio native.

A member of the 2009 Champion Saints. He was drafted in 2006 and has spent his career in New Orleans after graduating from Northwestern.

Strief graded out as the seventh-best offensive tackle on Pro Football Focus, so it will be interesting what kind of market there is for him this offseason. He also has won two Madden Most Valuable Protector Awards in 2009 and 2011.

New Orleans is already projected to be $12.5 million over the cap, according to’s Mike Triplett, and that’s before anything gets done with All-Pro tight end Jimmy Graham.

It’s very likely that Strief is on a new team next season, and depending on his market could determine how hard the Bengals pursue him if they lose Collins.

We have Andrew Withworth at LT and Boling will return at RG – we do not need FA OT and Collins with his big cap and we dont need M Jenkins- we have Nelson and Lloka and backup S Williams. I agree on Allen but if the price isnt too much. I think we need C- and A. Mack is priority for us. Also want new LB -Harrison is not an answer, and want CB in 1 st rd.

Thank you so much for the feedback and your opinion. It is great to hear what people think and get feedback. I fully understand what we have, and don’t get me wrong, we have a lot of great prices. This was the Top 3 Agents that we would love to see in Stripes. All 3 of these guys also have playoff experience past the Wildcard round. That is really what it boils down to in my mind, we need impact players now, that have experience winning in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see as well because we need some strong depth and that is what all 3 guys will also bring. It is unlikely we sign all 3 or even one of these guys, but you can’t say that if we brought in just one of these guys in, they would not make an impact.
